1. At the heart of the system is information content, not just courses

First you create information content (pages, tests, surveys, files, videos, audios, presentations etc.) and then use it in training tasks, knowledge base, forum topics.

What it means:

  • one content is one source of information. We can use it multiple times for multiple tasks simultaneously. If you update the resource, all linked content in the tasks will be updated, too.
  • automated building of the Knowledge Base. Any public resource will be joined to the Knowledge Base and any user will be able to find it with the search engine if he has required access rights.
  • Collaborator automatically finds unpopular and outdated resources and proposes to update them.

Most of LMS work with courses. This Imposes limitations both on the search possibilities and the information they contain.

You can organize the Knowledge Base in such LMS through courses only – their  names, descriptions, meta-data. And context searching is available only within the courses.

Thus, if you want to find the formula  of the second law of thermodynamics, you will either need to set tags on the course, or insert formula info into the course description , or enter the course and look for formula among its materials.

Building of the Knowledge Base in such systems is realised by additional tools – add-ons for LMS. Consequently, it causes info duplication, and then both simultaneous update of informational resources in the courses and in the Knowledge Base becomes problematic.

2. Learning process in Collaborator – is the set of tasks assigned to the user or chosen by the user himself – this is known as a part of GTD methodology

We teach adults and we know that they have no special time for learning. Therefore, any learning activity is a part of todo-list, part of the job necessary  for professional growth.

In Collaborator the user sees “My Tasks” page instead of usual “My Courses” in other LMS. He sees “Catalog of Tasks” instead of “Catalog of courses”. All learning is organized through todo-list which allows the users to apply effective GTD methodology (Getting Things Done).

The task can be simple, consisting of one element – quiz, survey, webinar, meetup, book, video, etc. And it can be more complicated – either a course or a training program or a complex test.

Since the informational content in Collaborator is an independent element (see section 1), we can reuse it in the Training Tasks.

So, using two Tasks with one test, but different settings of the testing process (number of questions, the way they are issued, passing threshold, etc.), you can simultaneously evaluate knowledge in two different user groups. The evaluation results will appear in separate reports or in a general one.

3. Collaborator is the Knowledge Base

Collaborator is designed for training in organizations. You develop your employees with the help of e-Learning technologies. But, unlike other LMS, you simultaneously develop all organization as a whole!

When creating courses, training tasks – their content is automatically included in the Knowledge Base. It also includes all the news, all pages of the company’s wiki-encyclopedia, all forum topics.

The aim of Knowledge Base  is to provide easy and comprehensible search of information required by user. The more training content you create, the more powerful your Knowledge Base becomes.

If the material from the Knowledge Base requires further discussion or you have any questions, you can immediately, from the very resource that you are working with, start a new forum topic and invite your colleagues, friends or company experts to participate in discussion.

You can put public information into company’s Wiki-enciclopedia. All articles from Wiki will be accessible through the Knowledge Base searching.

4. Communication

Over time, with the  active training, process Collaborator becomes a corporate portal of the company. It publishes news, announcements, notifications,  supports  communication between coworkers. They can quickly find required information, easily share experience and find those who can help them in solving their problems.

For immediate discussion you can use group or personal chat. All chat messages will be saved and can be easily found with the searching tool.

Forum helps you to discuss any question with your colleagues, company experts and even your boss.

News, announcements, notifications and different infoblocks on the Start Page allow you to keep your employees informed of all important events.

5. Monitoring and analyze

All user’s actions in Collaborator are saved in logs.

Collaborator keep Big Data of user’s activities and learning.

Thus you can monitor

  • how fast was readed information resources,
  • what answers were did in quiz and  how much attempts were have done,
  • what resources of Knowledge Base are most popular and what of them no,
  • how user behaves in the system, in what form it is more comfortable for him to receive information
    …. and much more

Collaborator provides flexible reports with infographic elements.

Report’s information dynamically changes, reacts to filters and is updated in real time.

Any report can be downloaded from the system in MS Excel format.

Analysis of communication, user behavior and the results of their training can reveal talents, can to form a reserve pool, can optimize and improve training, and allow to find effective ways for staff development.

Collaborator has everything you need to integrate with the company’s external information systems. You can receive the report’s results in your accounting systems, CRM, ERP, etc.
